    "Not so fat, Australia.

A new study funded by the land down under found that 26 percent of Aussies are overweight, prompting one newspaper to breathlessly claim that Australia is now the fattest country in the world - even fatter than the United States, whose citizens, the paper claims, are obese at a rate of only 25 percent.

The article from The Age, entitled "Australia wins world heavyweight title," references data from a government funded study called "Australia's Future Fat Bomb."

According to a 2007 CDC study, however, 34 percent of Americans are obese, meaning they have a BMI, or Body Mass Index, over 25 (the same metric the Australian study used).

To catch up with those Texas-sized numbers, the Aussies will need to put more pounds on down under before they can rightfully claim this dubious title.

Might we suggest a blooming onion at the Outback Steakhouse?"

go enjoy your blooming onion... (2210 calories and 134 grams of fat)
